The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is pleased to announce that the report of the results of the meeting of the Advisory Group to Recommend Priorities for the IARC Monographs during 2025–2029 is now available online.
The Advisory Group considered more than 200 nominated agents, including infectious agents, biotoxins, complex exposures, particles and fibres, metals, pharmaceuticals, physical agents, and a wide variety of chemicals. For each agent, the Advisory Group considered the evidence regarding human exposure, cancer in humans, cancer in experimental animals, and carcinogen mechanisms, according to methods described in the Preamble to the IARC Monographs. Priority was determined according to the strength of evidence for human exposure and whether the available carcinogenicity data could support a new or updated evaluation. Agents were recommended for evaluation with high, medium, or no priority.
